Entry for March 27, 2008

It is the end of another month and time to check in. Kids are still coming at a steady rate. We are very pleased with the ones sired by CSF Redrum (Rummy)... I'm sitting here listening to them cry just outside of my window even as I type.

We have looked at several farms and all it has done is convince me that we need to try to be closer to Nashville. There are some nibbles on our place so I'm just hoping that the stars will align and we'll find a buyer around the same time we find the "perfect" place to move ourselves and our livestock.

Entry for February 27, 2008

Just checking in... It has been a long time since I last blogged... I suppose I've just been waiting for the changes with Yahoo!360 to come down...

We started having kids again in January... just a few at a time this go-round... right now, there are 14 kids on the ground and four expectant dams waiting their turn in the kidding paddock behind the house.

We are also looking to move... the goal is to find a bigger farm in Tennessee... I am scared sh*tless... I hate moving, I hate the thought of having to deal with strangers coming to see our place... coming into our house and looking at our junky stuff... hate the thought of having to apply for a mortgage on a new house... the only thing that keeps me motivate are the three new doe kids that I desperately want to keep but can't do so without a bigger farm.

I can relax now...

I can relax now... my LSU Tigers pulled it off and won the 2007 BCS National Championship by defeating Ohio State University. They are the first two-loss team to win a BCS title and the first team to repeat as BCS champions since the NCAA went to the current format. Everyone thinks I'm much easier to live with now

I don't know why Chris keeps putting up with me. Last weekend I found myself struggling with one of the earliest onsets of my seasonal affective disorder (SAD) that I can ever remember dealing with. I was an absolute total B*I*T*C*H for a good four days leading up to my birthday on Saturday. I was struggling with feelings of sadness and helplessness that wasn't at all helped by the fact all of those days were overcast/rainy without a bit of sunshine. Chris couldn't look at me without being snapped at... I was horrible. On Saturday morning (my birthday), I was shocked back into reality when, in addition to a small gift and birthday card, Chris had also gotten me a card in which she apologized for not being "perfect"... That brought me to my senses and made me realize just how horrible I'd been to her... I'm so lucky... anyone else would have had my stuff thrown into a huge trash bag and kicked my sorry behind out... Sometimes I can be such an idiot.

I Spoke Too Soon....
photo

I suppose I blogged too soon... and, for those who thought I'd have had something up sooner, I've simply been busy.

Last Saturday I sat in an airport sports bar at the Charlotte (NC) airport and watched as the UT Volunteers took an early lead in the SEC Championship Game. When I had to board the plane to return to Nashville, the score was 7-6 in UT's favor. Sitting on a plane full of UT fans, I held my breath during the one hour flight. When we landed and cell phones were turned back on, the score updates started to come in... 14-13 still in UT's favor. I passed a television just as they were going to commercial and decided to go on to baggage claim. After getting mixed up on the parking lot shuttles, I finally boarded one just in time to hear a gentleman telling his wife, "the score's 21-14"... well, doing the math it was easy to figure out that LSU had managed to score a TD and get the 2 point conversion.

As I got into my truck to head home, the announcer was counting down 5...4...3...2...1 "And Les Miles will, at the very least, take an SEC title with him if he goes to Michigan..." HUH??? Where had this fool been all day? You see, the most exciting part of the day was the announcement that Les Miles had vehemently denied the reports that he'd reached an agreement to become the new head coach at Michigan and was intent on staying at LSU.

I get home and the night wears on... first, #2 West Virginia falls to Cincinnati and then #1 Missouri falls to Oklahoma in the Big 12 Conference Championship game. Hmmmm... but I'm still thinking there's only a very slim chance that the coaches will get smart and move LSU ahead of teams who did not even play in their conference title games, much less won (such as Georgia) as well as a team that was ranked ahead of LSU but which LSU had defeated head-to-head earlier in the season (Virginia Tech). Sunday night we were grocery shopping when I got a call from my mother telling me the good news....

January 7, 2008: NCAA Football National Title Game in New Orleans, LA will feature the Tigers of Louisiana State University against the Buckeyes of Ohio State University...

GEAUX TIGERS!!!
